Project Description

In the very remote southern region of Ethiopia bordering South Sudan and Kenya, in 2011 a new bridge crossing the Omo River was built. Based on construction default the bridge collapsed into the river. VSL Heavy Lifting was awarded with the recovery of the steel bridge including the development of the complete recovery method. Between May and July 2013 the 550t steel bridge with a length of 128m was lifted out of the water and temporarily supported. After the repair and enforcement of the bridge by our client, VSL Heavy Lifting launched the bridge 36m forward into its final position.
